Bill was a rancher I knew, who was broke in the depression, but with extra hard work, some 15 years later, he owned several 1000 acre ranches with barns, out buildings and homes on them.

As was his custom, he went to one of the ranches to check on his cattle and upon arriving he found a couple had moved in to the house.

He asked what they were doing there and they answered we are broke and need a place to live.  His first impulse was to kick them out but decided to help them.

He told the man he could use him temporarily and he gave him a job.  After a short time they were gone and I wondered why they left, but Bill the ranch owner was a tight lipped guy and he didn’t say why.

Finally I couldn’t resist any longer and asked what happened.

He told me that few days ago he went to the ranch, and was unloading his horse from the trailer, when the woman who was under thirty came over and said; I need some clothes and described what she wanted.

The cost would be about $600 dollars for her outfit and before he had time to say anything she also said; that she would be very appreciative, and he could come over anytime he wanted, and she would show him how much she liked him.

Even though he was country he wasn’t stupid and a couple days later he sent them on their way without the new wardrobe.

Being young I asked him why? He said; if I went down and spent that much money on clothes for my wife, she would look better than the girl would.
He was tempted and rejected her most generous offer.

He would have had to live with the knowledge of his sin for the rest of his life.  There would have been other complications, for she would have had many more needs.

So many things that slip in unawares onto our want list, can lead to sinning against both GOD and ourselves.  All sin is also a sin against ourselves.

While repentance and forgiveness’ can settle the account with GOD we have to live with the consequence of our sin for the rest of our lives.

There are some sins that can't be undone not the least of which are adultery and fornication.

Make sure there is nothing on your want list that can hurt the one who loves you for wounds never heal, they only just scar over.

Remember; No temptation has overtaken you that is unusual for human beings. But God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. Instead, along with the temptation he will also provide a way out; so that you may be able to endure it (resist it)
