THE "LIE"

One of the most powerful forces in our world is the "Lie."

It always requires a personage in order to function. This personification of evil sets it free to do the "dirty deed” that is at hand.

It was the lie that got Satan kicked out of heaven with all of his followers. He was so adept at lying to himself that he believed that he was more powerful than the creator that made him.

Because we hate what happened in the Garden of Eden we tend to blame Eve more than we should. Had I been there and was given the same treatment she was given I probably would have done the same thing she did.

Satan uses the same technique today that he used on her. First came the questioning of GOD'S word. "Hath GOD said?" Then he began to challenge her resolve by offering an alternative choice, another tree and then he offered something that she desired.

Cain got in big trouble by convincing himself his sacrifice of vegetables was as good as a blood sacrifice to cover his sins.

Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

While it may be true that they had no king but they did have the law by Moses to be their guide. They should have been pursuing that which was right in GOD'S eyes.

Leviticus 19:12 And you shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the LORD.

Proverbs 19:5 A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will not escape.

Proverbs16-17 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, not just dislike, GOD hates lying.

Having said that, there are times when people can't handle the truth, infidelity, rejection and a host of other things which causes us to want to spare them from the harsh reality and evade the truth.

Webster; To make a false statement in order to evade the truth is lying.

Now to a really serious matter; would I lie to save your life? If I told the truth you would be killed.
Would you lie to save my life?

There are some things you should never do; never lie to GOD, never lie to yourself, never deceive anyone to your advantage by lying. As much as lies within you, never allow yourself to be trapped in a situation where you are forced to bail someone out of a compromising situation by lying.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.

Wow, that sure gets my attention. How about you?
