As was advised previously. we are not to be preoccupied with Satan, demons or the principalities and powers of the air, and yet we are told to resist the devil. (James 4:7)
In order to do that we must understand something about him and his methodologies.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds), casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Revelation 20:2-3 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more.
Deception is the key power of Satan in simple terms "He fools us." In the end times this power will be taken from him but in the present we are subject to His attacks.
We are not without weapons with which to resist the devil, but we are our own worst enemy if we scum to his deceptions (devices).
The question is why should Satan attack me? Whether a person is saved or not we are all created in GOD'S image, and Satan hates us because of it. We are capable of blessing and praising GOD, this alone is enough to cause him great distress.
We are to cast down strongholds in our lives. These strongholds are things that keep us from excelling in all phases of our Christian walk; from fulfilling His will for our life.

This is putting into action the admonition of "giving no place to the devil". You might say this isn't easy; of course not but we are wrestling with principalities, with powers, with the spiritual forces of wickedness in celestial places.
This struggle is unending but what makes the difference is your obedience strengthens you and causes you to be an over-comer in this life.
The important thing to know is Christ has defeated the devil and we are just occupying until Jesus returns.
Luke 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
I like this song; WE'LL WORK 'TIL JESUS COMES
