In legal terms the words sign, sealed and delivered is an Acknowledgment that the referred document (instrument) was properly executed by the intended entity, secured in a suitable envelope, and handed over to the intended recipient.
In scripture we find a similar scenario concerning the salvation process.
Preceding any agreement there must be a meeting of the minds and conditions laid out prior the execution of the document.
The salvation process is as follows; an offer is made to any individual free of any charge in order that they may be the recipient of salvation with all amenities therein and it is accessed by faith.
In the world there is the hand shake agreement whereby two or more parties agree concerning some action and after discussion they shake their hands and the deal is done.
There is another saying of substance which, "My word is my bond," simply meaning I will do whatever I say I will do.
This is closer to the salvation contract where Christ says you may receive salvation if you believe in me and my words. When one agrees to those terms by an act of faith the deal is signed and registered by writing the believers name in the book of life.
Concurrently with the signing of the name in the book of life there is another process that transpires and the deal is sealed. The seal authenticates that the document is true and in a like manner the Christian is sealed by the Spirit of GOD indwelling the believer.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16)
After the signing and sealing the final act is - - being delivered up;
1Thesselonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Ephesians 1:13“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”
I Corinthians 15:24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.
Signed, Sealed and soon to be Delivered.
