DOWNSIZING

For the last few years this process of downsizing has been going full blast, and has destroyed many people’s life style.

It would take someone smarter than me to define what all the issues are to cause this.

Companies that don’t keep up with the new technologies will usually fail. At the turn of the century there were many companies that refused change and soon disappeared.

Companies that made buggy whips, and lye soap found themselves either having to diversify or close up shop. The people who made these products also were faced with having to learn a new trade. Blacksmiths had to learn to be auto mechanics and the assembly line for building autos came into being.

In order to survive, learning to deal with change is an imperative.

Downsizing is affecting every area of our lives. In the 1980s the coffee companies started a trend that is in full steam ahead, and that was to reduce the size of their containers. The one pound size is now 11 ounces, the three pound is almost down to 2 pounds. The net effect of this is a price increase. Dryers’ ice cream still costs the same price but has reduced the container size 25%. This is an obvious price increase of one fourth more.

All these products have a limit as to how far they can shrink, and they have a new strategy, which is to come out with a new and larger size at an increased price and they can start the whole process over. People seem to accept the smaller size better than a price increase.

Downsizing affects everyone in one way or the other and since it has entrenched itself in our lives it could very well affect our dedication to GOD.

Our spiritual life is paramount and must needs be maintained at a high level. The more difficult the times, the more faithfulness is needed. In unstable times spiritual stability is a must for every Christian. Our daily living strongly affects our spiritual outlook for hope is a key to strong faith.

If you sense your faith is weakening it is probably your hope has faded. The psalmist faced a similar situation but he knew how to encourage himself;

Psalm 42:11 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again--my Savior and my God!

One of the things to remember is that He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  We are far better off than those who know not GOD in every situation.

GOD doesn’t downsize his love for us, his grace toward us, and HE is not changed by circumstances on earth. HE is always the same, forever stable, He is our rock. We always know where we stand in relationship to him.

Come sing because you are happy in the Lord.
