1 Peter 5:5-6 “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

From reading these scriptures one would think God expects us to be Ego-less. If you fail in your attempt to be successful in this endeavor you will soon meet someone who will demean you to the point of no esteem.

Is there no limit to debasing yourself trying to attain unto a state of humility? Hummm!

A man can counterfeit love, he can counterfeit faith, he can counterfeit hope and all the other graces, but it is very difficult to counterfeit humility. D. L. Moody

The only humility that is really ours is not that which we try to show before God in prayer, but that which we carry with us in our daily conduct. Andrew Murray

Nothing disciplines the inordinate desires of the flesh like service, and nothing transforms the desires of the flesh like serving in hidden-ness. The flesh whines against service but it screams against hidden service. It strains and pulls for honor and recognition. Richard Foster

I have learned that much of my spiritual progress does not come directly from God, but through my ability to humble myself and hear Him speak through imperfect people. Francis Frangipane

Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less. C.S. Lewis

The meek man is not a human mouse afflicted with a sense of his own inferiority. He has accepted God's estimate of his own life: In himself, nothing; In God, everything. He knows well that the world will never see him as God sees him and he has stopped caring. A.W. Tozer

We'd like to be humble...but what if no one notices? --John Ortberg

Does it seem that GOD desires HIS people to possess a spirit of humbleness? It might be that being humble is an issue between you and GOD and not you and the world.

Where do we start to become a person who is truly humble? You may have a better answer than I but it may start with the understanding that without GOD’S acceptance and forgiveness we are nothing.
