North of Austin - chapter Seven

Chapter Seven  The Dance

Sometimes we went out to the farm and had Sunday dinner with my folks. Usually there were some of the other brothers and their families there also so it was good to see them all. Their kids were growing up fast. A couple of the boys were big enough to do some plowing now and that didn’t seem possible.

Abner called me aside and asked how things were going and I told him everything was pretty much as he explained things to me. I thanked him for all his advice for it saved me a ton of embarrassment. He said if there was anything else he hadn’t covered then just ask him. I said Abby had a pretty good handle on everything and she had taught me a lot since we got hitched. Abner said I was lucky to get a good woman like Abby and I agreed with him. He asked if we were going to the dance on Saturday and I told him Abby wants to go so we would be there.

The week had passed and Saturday was here and time for the dance. It was held in the community hall which was quite large. The family had showed up and some were out on the floor having a good time when we arrived. My nephews reminded me of myself just a few years ago. I was about their age when I first spotted Abby and decided she was mine. It took a few years before I finally convinced her that was the case but she was fond of me from the start also. They seemed so young to be into girlfriends but that was me in those days and I felt so big and sure about things in those days.

The dance had just started when four mean looking men came storming in with an air of intimidation about them. My family left the floor and stood near the wall where the sheriff was standing. All the men were big men but one of them was a lot bigger than the others. The three smaller of the group had grabbed some of the girls pulling them out on the floor and were dragging them around the floor. I guess what they were doing was what they called dancing.

When the monster of a man spied Abby he come stomping across the floor and stood in front of her. He reeked with some foul odor when he said; “you mine.”

I glanced over at the sheriff and saw he wasn’t going to do anything so I stepped between the giant and Abby and said; “no.” I expected to get whipped but not as quick as it happened. I found myself being driven almost all the way across the dance floor and was waiting for the pain to catch up with me and then it hit, hard. The other three were laughing at me as I lay there writhing in pain.

Then I saw Abner pull his hand out of his pocket and just saw a flash of his arm shooting out followed by a series of blows. Then along side of me lay this monster of a man. He was bloodied, unconscious, and I could see a bone jutting out of his jaw. One of my brothers pulled me to my feet and steadied me for I was yet unsteady on my feet. Then I saw Abner go over to the other three and he asked if any of them wanted to take up where the giant had left off.

They all said no they just came to dance. Abner told them to take this trash out of here but to stop by the doctor and get his jaw wired back together. Later the doctor said his jaw was broken in four places and may not ever be able to eat very well. As it turned out the doctor was right he had trouble chewing and wasn’t exactly right in the head ever again.

Other than being pretty sore I was in good shape. Everybody settled down and had some punch and sandwiches while the blood was cleaned up then the dance continued. Abby could knock a mean step but had to dance with some of the other men for I was just too sore to keep up with her.
I noticed that the men kept their distance while dancing with her for they could see Abner out of the corner of their eye. I talked to the sheriff and asked why he didn’t intervene when that man accosted Abby and he said that man broke up the last sheriff and he wasn’t able to be the sheriff after that.

That disgusted me so instead of continuing talking to him I asked Abner how he manage to hit that man as hard as he did and he showed me a pair of brass knucks.

He laughed at me and asked when are you going to learn to fight?
I told him I didn’t know but he had to admit I can take a pretty good punch.

The Prophetic View

If I Were a Prophet

If one wishes to know what the future of Northern California is just look at what is happening in Southern California is today. What starts in Southern California always works its way north?

If you want to know what the future of the United States is just look at England and Europe today. The Islamicization of these countries is well on its way and oppression the Church of Jesus Christ is experiencing is the first signs of it happening here in the U.S.A. It all starts in the school system.

If you want to effect change get control of the educational system and then it is only a matter of time until you accomplish your goals.  Look what is happening in Birmingham Alabama!

Would that I were a prophet

If I was a prophet and could see twenty years into the future what would I see? Just guessing I believe I would see the progress pedophiles had made and were now within the mainstream acceptance of sexual behavior. It has been a long battle but they have finally prevailed. There were several changes that accelerated the process one of which was the severe downgrading of the moral fiber of this nation.

Much like the struggle of the Gay community the child lovers have had to follow the trail laid out by them. Getting laws passed that favored their agenda was key and number two their gaining acceptance.

Following that was the damning of anyone who was against the progress being made by the Gay community.

The brain washing over the next twenty years will prepare the nation for child lovers to have gained enough support to get the necessary laws passed (executive order?) to make their practice legal with parental rights being rendered all but non-existent. The hue and cry going forward will be “Child Rights” and the legal battles will be fought in the courts based on this principle.

Can anyone doubt that this prophecy will not come to pass when the moral fiber of this nation is being shredded on a daily basis? The door of unrighteousness has been swung open wide with no one to close it.

Use your imagination to view the Scriptures

Both books and the radio’s message are designed to cause the reader and hearer to create images of what is being communicated.  The Bible is adept at doing that.

Open your Bible to the first three chapters and you will see the entire creation in your mind’s eye. As you read see God create Adam and Eve in the garden. Your creation may differ from mine in some details. Those with greater imagination will see things I haven’t.

Picture the three million Hebrews leaving Egypt in Exodus crossing the Red Sea.

Can you picture Sisera fleeing Debora and coming to the tent of Jael?  After feeding him while he lay asleep Jael crept stealthily up to him, holding a tent peg and a mallet. She drove it through his temples with such force that it entered into the ground below. And at her feet he bowed, he fell; where he bowed, now dead. See her as she swung the mallet and the moment it took for him to die.

As we go through the scripture it is alive with word pictures. Unless you are capable of translating the written into pictures of reality you are missing the full force of what is being revealed.

Movies and other media now fill in the scenes for us so we don’t have to do it for ourselves to the point of becoming lazy thinkers.

The scriptures give us many different pictures of Jesus Christ and our perception of what is written forms what we think about Christ at any point in his existence. Starting with the prophecies, his birth, life until his anointing with the Holy Spirit and ministry began.

Each recorded event has a special revelation we need to flesh out as it were and project ourselves into the scene before us. When he came to the well and met the woman. Each step was an opportunity for you to become involved in from his asking for water till the conversion of her city.

Can you feel the thirst and the water cooling his tongue and throat? It is all there for us if we only apply our imagination to what is written.

Let the Jesus of today become real to you. There is the Jesus of yesterday and tomorrow but the Jesus of today is where your focus should major.  Till he comes again with the holy angels he remains the seated Jesus at the right of the father. Our advocate when we approach the Father with our petitions.

As you read the scriptures allow them to show forth their full meaning in picture form in your mind for everything you read is a real event.

North of Austin - Chapter Six

Chapter Six  -  The Honey Moon

The wedding was a semi-formal affair and I bought me a black suit that I would be wearing for the wedding and in court it the future.

All my folks were there and Abby’s clan was also well represented. Abby’s father wanted us to have a nice honeymoon so he paid for us to go to Chicago by train and stay at a nice hotel.

No one in my family had ever had a honeymoon they just went to the preacher and then moved in together so this was something new for us.

It was late afternoon by the time we left and the middle of the morning the next day by the time we arrived at the hotel.  Her father had booked us what they called a suite instead of a room so we had plenty of space to stretch out. After we unpacked we sat in the living room and took some deep breaths just looking at each other.  I asked her if she was hungry and she said not yet.

We sat there for a while longer and I said, “What do you want to do?”

She grinned and said; “What do you think?”  With that she started to remove her clothes. I swallowed a time or two and also started to take off my clothes.

When she got down to her underwear she stopped and said you will have to take the rest off. I gently caressed her while I removed the rest of her clothes and we spent the rest of the afternoon embracing each other.

All of the things Abner had told me now made sense where before I didn’t fully understand it. In the midst of our lovemaking she started to make loud noises and I almost panicked for Abner never mention this. I asked if she was alright and she gasped out a loud yes.

Afterward she looked exhausted but I had to ask; were you in pain? She burst out laughing and said yes the most pleasurable pain imaginable. I took that to mean everything was okay.

During the week we went out and saw some of the sights Chicago had to offer but most of our time was spent in out suite enjoying each other.

I thought of many people I knew who couldn’t wait for marriage and tried to satisfy some lust of the moment and how things turn out badly for them.

Thinking back to the time in school when I told Abby she was my girl for life I never could have dreamed she would be so well developed and the wonderful passionate woman she turned out to be.  I only hoped that the women my brothers married are as passionate as my Abby.

I have come to understand my Ma is that type of woman and Abner’s wife is the same even though she isn’t the prettiest gal around.

We arrived back home and settled in although our desire for one another hasn’t subsided any as of yet.  Abner said things will slow down a bit as kids come along but I had a hard time believing that.

I have gone back to work in the law office full time until classes begin. Abby has set up housekeeping and has a lot of her old girl friends from the past coming over. They constantly ask about me and intimate questions about our love life.

I have come in and heard their questions and some of her answers to them. She says things like; “Oh he is wonderful, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you, there isn’t another one like him.”

To my embarrassment she would go into more detail as they would probe for more information. When I would come in they would stare at me, looking me over from head to foot, undressing me as it were.

She got the greatest kick out of teasing them and I would get one more longing look as they left.

I told Abby she should stop telling her friends, stories about me because I had more than one proposition put to me already and furthermore I turn red while they are staring at me below my belt.  She roared laughing at that but turned serious and said she would stop leading them on.

I began to have some of the older women in town tell me they had some legal problems they needed advice on and asked me to come to their home and help them. I would tell them I am not licensed to act in the capacity of which they needed help but would have one of the other attorneys come over and help them.  Their answer was always short which was; just forget it I’ll take care of it myself.  I can’t imagine what amazing stories are being told about me behind my back.

I was back in school again and had discovered each month there was a few down days in our love making. This was something I guess I had heard about but experiencing it was another thing. I decided that a break every so often was a good thing.

Being raised on the farm I had related human sexuality to what the animals did but it wasn’t long till I realized there was a vast difference between humans and the animals when it came to loving and making love.

WHY DO PEOPLE CURSE?

WHY DO PEOPLE CURSE?

People in normal conversation often use cuss words without realizing they are  using them.

They do not consider or care if it offends anyone.

They feel it is a socially acceptable practice and a God given right to do so.

Is there a difference between swearing and cursing?

Broadly speaking - - probably not, but a narrower view would reveal that cursing invokes the name of Deity.

The Cuss Control Academy says; cursing among other things is a tool for Whiners and Complainers.

It discloses a lack of character, it is immature, it reflects ignorance, it contributes to the decline of civility, the Dumbing of America.

It lacks imagination, and it is abrasive language that has lost its effectiveness.

Some say that the use of profanity stimulates the brain which causes the adrenaline gland to inject a sense of power in the one using it.

Since the name of the creator GOD is often used we find HE also uses some words describing said profanicators and their future.

First God says don’t use my name in any profane way!

Second HE says if you do you will pay the consequences.

HE further says, by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.

While many educated people have tried to convince us it is helpful and even proper to use profane words the Higher Power warns us not to do it.

"You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God"

"The mind of this country, taught to aim at low objects, eats upon itself." Ralph Waldo Emerson offered that observation in 1837, but his words echo with painful prescience in today's very different United States. Americans are in serious intellectual trouble -- in danger of losing our hard-won cultural capital to a virulent mixture of anti-intellectualism, anti-rationalism and low expectations.

The Wind - Spirit

The Wind - Spirit

John 3:8 “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.”

One could say the Spirit does what He wishes for the word used for wind is the same word for the Spirit.

In 1 Corinthians: 12-14 the work of the Spirit is manifested. He does what He does at the pleasure of the Father somewhat in the same way Christ obeyed and went to the cross.

The power of the Spirit is limited only by one thing and that is the will of the Father. At the command of the Father the Spirit went forth and created the world and after the raw creation He brooded or watched over the works of his hands and put the finishing touches to the creation. The awesome power of the Spirit is unknowable except in part.

In 1 Corinthians 12 we are partakers of a small part of His power as He wishes to share it with each one. 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11 There are different kinds of spiritual enablements, but the same Spirit distributes them.

Verse 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

The scripture goes on to say that the regenerated people come into being, what is called the body of Christ here on earth each with a portfolio of their own.

1 Corinthians 12:18-27  But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our un-presentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. It is the member’s responsibility to recognize where they have been placed in the body and what their duties are and to act accordingly.

It is my belief that you can find your ministry gift listed in 1 Corinthians 12 somewhere.  1 Corinthians 12: 28-31 is a short list of ministries that must be in the body of Christ in order for the body to function to its fullness. Since chapter thirteen follows chapter twelve it is assumed that is the better way Paul refers to but I feel chapter fourteen continues what he is teaching in chapter twelve with chapter thirteen being Parenthetical.

The most important thing to realize is; this is where it is at. This is what the Holy Spirit is doing today and it is incumbent on every believer to fulfill his God assigned work within the body of Christ. Those who fail to follow the Spirit’s leading nullify the grace bestowed upon them and the body suffers. Thanks be to God who has counted us worthy to serve Him.

NORTH OF AUSTIN - Chapter Five

Come On In - The Water is Fine !!

We kept our engagement quiet for my last week of school was quite intense and I didn’t want to be answering the same questions over and over.

By the end of the week I was ready to spend some quiet time with my intended. We rode to a secluded spot and brought a lunch with us.  A water fall with a clear pool of water was just perfect for swimming but I didn’t bring a suit with me. Abby had her suit on and dove right in after pulling her dress off.

After swimming across the pool and back she told me to come on in with her. I told her my predicament and she said don’t you skinny dip? I said sure with my brothers and other men.

She came closer to the bank and stood up waist deep and said; “I’m waiting.”

I just stood there with a thousand thoughts going through my mind.

“Come on, my husband soon to be, and get in the water.”

I tried one more time to deter her by saying, “You have me at a disadvantage by having your suit on and what would your mother think if she knew.”

She said, “Well when we get back home you can ask her what she thought,” and with that she started removing her suit. In less than ten seconds I was naked and under the clear water.

She laughed and said, “Now that wasn’t so bad was it?”

We cavorted for an hour swimming and stared at each other as we dressed.

Then we ate our lunch and I must say I was overwhelmed by the whole event. The more I thought about it I finally concluded the afternoon was going to take the stress out of our first night together as man and wife for we already had an eyeful of one another.

The picture I now had of her in my mind projected a clear image of perfection. After that she would often call me; “My handsome man.”

Sunday afternoon I said my goodbye’s and headed for the farm where I worked for two weeks. Even with gloves on I had blisters on both hands but I must admit it felt good to be working the soil again. It was almost enough to make me give up my future in the law field.  Then the vision of Abby would come into view and it was back to the law business.

I finished the two weeks and we pretty much had the crops in. The day I left I told everyone I was going to marry Abby and would be completing my schooling and getting my license to practice law.

With all of the congratulations finished my Pa called me aside and said he was hoping that I would drop the idea of going into law and return to the farm. He paused and then went on and said he understood that marrying Abby and her father being a lawyer would cause me to be interested in it.

Pa said that Abner considered me to be the best hand he had and hated to lose me. He further said that he had promised that when the time came he would give us boys the money he had set aside for us instead of paying us a wage all the years we worked for him. He gave me a good deal of money and then said goodbye son.

There was a certain finality in the way he said it and for me the family bond was never the same after that, we all had moved to a different level.

Just before I left, Abner my older brother called me aside and said he was glad I was getting married to Abby for she had blossomed into a fine woman. He told me a few more things he had learned the hard way about marital bliss with a woman.  I was embarrassed and could hardly believe the things he told me. After I left I still redden each time I thought about the stuff he shared with me in detail.

While he was educating me concerning the intimacies of marriage I thought he really gave me too much detail but since Abner and I were close we could talk about most anything.

Over the next two weeks before the marriage I would think of what Abner told me and the picture I had of Abby without her clothes on and the thought made me weak in the knees. Since she had no older sisters I wondered if her married cousins had took her aside and explained some of the stuff I had been clued in about.
