CHRIST OUR PASSOVER

CHRIST OUR PASSOVER

“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)

When John spoke these words every Jew immediately reflected back to the scripture found in Exodus 12:21-24 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, "Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb.  And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning.  For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever.

While what John said wasn’t totally clear it got the people’s attention and two of John’s disciples began to follow Jesus to get a further explanation of what John meant. What they knew was the lamb covered sin for a period of time, but John declared Jesus would take sin away.  This was almost beyond belief, a permanent solution for the sin problem.

They recognized sin was a big issue and would separate us from GOD in a big way. The purpose of the sacrifices was to allow man to stand before GOD cleansed by the blood of the lamb and was a sign of what was to come.

Paul the Apostle said I do not frustrate the grace of GOD (by adding the law). We can frustrate the purpose of GOD in your life by acting as if grace is the permission to sin. To take the attitude that grace allows me to do as I please instead of walking after the Spirit is a presumptuous sin and will break your fellowship with GOD.

Broken fellowship with GOD is not that easy to restore because verbalization won’t get it done. Saying words might seemingly be the right way to go, but in order to get from the dark place you have entered it will require total repentance with nothing being feigned.

God knows you thoughts before you think them so you can’t fake it with GOD. This is a mistake most Christians have tried at one time or the other (what fools we mortals be.)

The price of grace was too high to be misused or another way to say it is; “while grace is free it didn’t come at a cheap price”.

1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven (sin), that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.

Read the Ten Commandments again and ask yourself which one of these can’t I obey?  Then realize it is not but a case of can’t but of won’t if you consider one or more is beyond your reach.

Romans 6:11 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts.

The world today is disgusted with Christians who do not live the Christ life.
Do not be numbered among those who excuse themselves and have to plead for grace unnecessarily.
