SANCTIFY YOU COMPLETELY 7 - Until the Coming of The Lord

Sanctified Until The Coming of The Lord

SANCTIFY YOU COMPLETELY 7 - Until the Coming of The Lord

1 Thessalonians 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

While the forces of evil arrayed against us are formidable the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit far exceeds those who are against us. But he requires us to cooperate with HIM spirit, soul, and body.

Is your human spirit working with or against the Holy Spirit?

What about your soul and body are they helping as much as possible? We have talked a little about the spirit and soul so now a few words about the body.

While the spirit seeks fellowship with the Father the emotions and body lean more to self-satisfaction.

Therefore the body is lust on parade. It constantly sends messages to the will to satisfy whatever it desires.  Food, sex and comfort are some of the prime desires it find most needful.  It hooks up with the emotions and makes strong demands for relief from its drives.

Excess is the enemy the body has to face whether it is for food or a myriad of other things. Unfortunately we find the body is more closely attuned to the soul than the spirit.

1 Corinthians 9:25-27 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; 27but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Paul realized that he had to control the whole man, and that he was; spirit, soul and body.

Much of the troubling areas he called “flesh” and warned us to not follow after the flesh but to walk after the Spirit.

We are to be filled with the Spirit and be led by The Spirit. To do otherwise will lead us to live a lukewarm existence.

Having double vision isn’t allowed in living for Christ; if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light.

Paul was convinced we could walk in the light and stay out of darkness by making sure our whole spirit, soul and body was kept blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
