SOMETHING ABOUT HER
I was a sophomore in school the year
of forty one,
School just started and I saw her,
walking alone,
I wanted to join her, but I wasn’t
that brash,
For there was something about her - -
It wasn’t that she wasn’t friendly
for over many she held sway,
I dared not speak to her as she
walked along the way.
I hid my inferiority by saying, “Yet
on another day…”
It was just that there was something
about her - -
When dances were held she went with
different guys,
But even when she was with them it
was as if she was alone.
I felt their sorrow for there was
sadness in their eyes,
They couldn’t cope for there was
something about her - -
Days came and went, time passed and
then was gone,
Soon she would graduate and I would ever
be forlorn,
How could I exist without seeing her
face?
Because, because, there was something
about her - -
Was it her eyes or the way she
dressed?
Other girls were shaped as she, and
the difference I can’t define,
It is that something, aye there is
something about her alas,
I shall never possess,
that something that something,
something - -
