Salt

One of the Sternest Warnings to Christians in Scripture:
Luke 14:34-35 "Therefore, salt is good; but if even salt has become tasteless, with what will it be seasoned? “It is useless either for the soil or for the manure pile; it is thrown out. He, who has ears to hear, let him hear."
These words are part of three parables concerning the cost of discipleship. If we do as the scripture commands and count the cost of discipleship we find the price may be higher than we first thought.
We revel in the truth that salvation is free but living the life isn’t.
Matthew Henry says thusly; “Sit down and count the cost; consider it will cost the mortifying (the pleasure) of sin, even the most beloved lusts.”
That statement cuts to the quick!
Matthew 5:13 Jesus declared; ”Ye are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”
It doesn’t matter whether you are speaking of a person, a Church or nation. If the saltiness is lost then it becomes useless to GOD.
It also doesn’t matter if it is in the pulpit or the pew the same thing applies.
Once the saltiness is lost restoration is nigh to impossible.
Consider the pastor or leader who has been guilty of infidelity and is found out. He can never recover that which is lost!
The only way to stay salty is to walk according to the word of GOD, walk with GOD and pay the price that saltiness demands.

  2. I count on where and when and high the salt is used and counted on in our world, forever. Trusting the Lord is all I can ever do!
